Let people message you without saving your number.

Your number and, if you like, the first message. They scan, the chat is open, and nobody has had to add a contact to write to you.

Where these earn their keep

01

Shop windows and counters

A question at eight in the evening that would otherwise be a missed call at nine the next morning. You answer when you open.

02

Vans, boards and job sheets

Trades live on WhatsApp. A photo of the broken thing, sent from the spot, beats any amount of describing it down a phone line.

03

Menus, packaging and flyers

Orders, reorders and questions, arriving somewhere you already look — with a first message that says which flyer it came from.

Questions people ask

Do they need my number saved first?

No, and that is the whole point. A scan opens the conversation directly. The number is the address, not something they have to file first.

Should I use my personal number?

Think about it before you print a thousand of them. The chat opens against whatever number you put in, so a personal number means customers in your personal WhatsApp, with your photo and your last seen. A separate business number, or WhatsApp Business on a second SIM, is the version you can walk away from at six.

What should the first message say?

Something that tells you where they scanned it. 'Hello, I saw the card in the window' and 'Hello, I saw the van' are the same conversation and two different answers to which one is working. It costs nothing and needs no analytics.

Does the number need the country code?

Yes. WhatsApp addresses are international, so a local number with a leading zero is not a number it can reach. Type it with the plus and the country code and the generator handles the rest — it strips the plus, because the link format has no use for one.

The conversation starts before they walk away.
